Advancing The Kingdom Ministries began with a simple idea.  Jesus preached “The Kingdom of God is near, repent and believe the Good News!”  We had to learn how to preach this simple message and get the same results that Jesus got.

The message is so much more than words, for if the Power of the King was not there, the message somehow got lost.  We had to become the people through whom the power of the Holy Spirit would flow.

Somehow, God brought us into a network of nearly 100% Islamic villages in Eastern Uganda.  I had a vision of the power of the Holy Spirit coming down in a mosque and all the Muslims were under the power of the King.  One form of this vision would be that Community Transformation would come to these Islamic Villages.

Canaan March Sunday 6 June 2010 Julie and I had to learn to respect the beliefs of the people living in Nawansega Parish and we began to ask this question: “How would Jesus approach this people?”. We began with 3 weeks of nightly crusades where the Power of the Living God was demonstrated each night.  Then we began a small church.  The church today attracts over 300 people each Sunday.  We have begun a daughter church in aearby community of Buwaabe. We were not welcomed and most of the community opposed our being there.  Nobody but one would sell us any land.  People who helped us were excommunicated from the mosque.  Many evil things were spoken.

The ATK Children’s Home – Nawansega

We began the ATK Children’s Home, taking children only from the community.  We needed roots in the community that were deeper than our Christian religion.  Today, we have over 20 children living in the home.  The children are the Living Testimony to what God can do through His Christ. We began to reach out to the Islamic Community by lending them a tent and benches and giving them some small monies when one of their loved ones died.  The Muslims could not believe that a Christian would care if one of their family members died and things began slowly to change. Most Muslims are dedicated to the spirits of their ancestors and these spirits control much of the day to day life of the people.  Additionally, the Djinn or genie spirits of Islam (Arabic spirits) are studied much in the mosque.  These spirits hold the people in deep bondage. Jesus was given authority over every enemy of God (1 Cor 15) and through this authority, hundreds of people of these villages have been set free from the fear and the control these spirits have over their lives. Today, we have an amazing ministry team, both from the outside (Kenya, West Uganda) and inside (from the community).  This is a dedicated group of mostly young people who are just amazing.  The glory of God is seen in them and the power of God flows through them. Community Transformation is so much more than the church.  There must be economic development, job training, and certain infrastructure that helps the peoples lives be made better.

Bahati Tailoring School

This is now the 3rd year of Bahati Tailoring School in Buwenge.  This project takes 20 women, mostly single (divorced or widowed) and develops tailoring skills in them, preparing them to provide for their family. For a more complete look at Bahati Tailoring School, please click here

 

 

 

400 For Clean Water in Uganda

Project Lydia

Project Lydia is the economic development package that is changing the face of poverty in the villages to which we are called.  The ladies of Nawansega and Buwaabe gather each week to make necklaces, baskets and dolls, which are then sold in the United States.
