I am enjoying my first week back in Uganda with the wonderful people that God has given to me, the young people who are becoming more than they ever thought possible as God takes their lives and makes them into something beautiful.? Only our God can heal a life and transform a life and produce a life that brings salvation to all the people whom God sets before them.
We work in deep Islamic villages in Eastern Uganda, and the Muslims are seeing the Hand of God working in the lives of their neighbors and in their lives too as they seek to know God in a personal way.
Julie and I never had a dream of giving up our businesses and leaving our American lifestyle, but God put such a burning passion on our hearts and this is where He directed us.? He takes a life and transforms us into a lifegiving everlasting spring of life that changes everybody and everything around us.
The difference between life in America and in the Islamic Villages that God has taken us to is astounding.? There, no running water and no electricity.? There, only a simple hand hoe to dig while planting crops and all harvesting is by hand, all drying is done by hand.? Most people sleep on the ground with banana leaves or a simple foam strip to protect from the ground.? There, we purchase perishable food every day.? Half of the houses are mud huts with straw thatched roofs.
I sleep in these villages half of the time, not because I have desired to, but because God has prepared a people to hear the message that He has put within me.? A message that the KINGDOM OF GOD IS NEAR, about a God who desires to dwell among men, a God who, through His people, repairs and heals the creation that He created, but through the enemies of God has suffered.? The world is in need of repair, and a people empowered by the Most High God of Heaven bring that repair, restoration and renewal.
God is raising up an army of people in Eastern Uganda, a people empowered by the Holy Spirit, a people who have surrendered and have studied and who are developing the skills necessary to turn the world upside down.
We live in the center of Islam of the Busoga tribal region.? And God is changing our Sub-County and County.? May the Glory of God be seen and may the people continue to turn to a God who is very interested in renewing His creation daily.
